Sculptural works in wood — shaped through more than 25 years of craft and exploration.

Rodney Band began working with wood in the early 1990s, developing a sculptural practice rooted in traditional turning.

From his studio in Kommetjie, Cape Town, he explores balance, texture and the natural character of hardwoods.

A carefully selected log is mounted on the lathe and shaped with a traditional chisel.
Hand Sculpt

Rodney stops before the interior is finished, then works by hand with custom tools.
